Draven,
Nakita ko rin itong post sa pitmaster.com B-Board at pig-post ko ito 11/9/01 sa SABONG TODAY under the topic of UCAP stagfighter ... i would like S. Lagon to clarify kung sino talaga ang pingkuhanan niyang Sweater broodstocks at tungkol sa parted ways matagal nang pig-post ito doon pa sa Vic Amante fowls at yong nangsabi na daw..daw..daw from Miss.,U.S.A si roadman ata 'yon alam niya dahil nakapunta na siya sa farm ups! I am sorry this thread is English part of a discussion i won't like to type again bare my mistake that's why i came also to conclusion of a doubt who's really the real mccoy? and owns sweater nobody can prove BW farms the origins are still unknown even i spoke last time to B. Barnett he didn't know who else? never know until today. Ktrix |

The message that Chris put on the Pitmaster all started this weekend because we went to visit both Chris and Bruce; I inquired Chris about the LORN and he showed us the pens that made the LORN. We asked him the difference between his and Bruce's LORN and he said that they are the same but that Bruce couldn't duplicate the same mating any more because he (Chris) took the original broodstock with him.
Chris had a ton of birds on his farm, maybe even up to 2,000 heads while Bruce had at most 500. One of the guys with us was very interested in the LORN of Chris and said that he was coming back the next day to purchase but when he got to Bruce's place, he purchased from Bruce instead of Chris although it was a tough decision. Both Chris and Bruce took us for a tour and was very hospitable in showing us all their stock and broodstock. If any of you end up with the opportunity to visit both farms, I strongly suggest you do as it will be one of the most educational experiences you will have concerning that particular bloodline. BTW, we also visited other breeders like Ray Boles, Col. Givens, Ricky Smith, etc. |

Golden Dragon is probably correct...I heard the split up between Chris Nesmith and Bruce Barnett, happened some 2 years earlier.

People have their own choices, there's no need to discredit someone's breeds...And for a small timer like me, i dont really expect to acquire that sought after LORN marked sweaters anyway, most of the time it goes to the biggies...
I got my Sweater Broodstocks from Bruce B, meaning to say that i'm more interested on having Bruce's Sweater and not NeSmith's, coz if i'm interested in acquiring NeSmith's Sweater, i should have got it from BlackWater Farms direct...As simple as that...And, its not for the purpose of having NeSmith's Sweater line but really to have Bruce's Sweater line, w/c is basically the same sweater line by the way. Regarding my BB sweaters, i'm totally satisfied with them, the first time i tested them as stags(10 mos), i won 4 out of 5 in the hacks, against older opponents, some of the fights goes to the drag, one a come from behind win and one showing an awesome performance, a clean win... Just sharing my tots & personal experience...:hippie: YIS, Jerry |

LA farms are you trying to sell your sweaters here?
Carol and Dink has their share of winning in the big pit try to win some bigger Derby first before you claim your sweaters or your uncles are the best, you seems to know? Most of the sweaters that win in the tough competition in the Philippines are not all BBarnets all the way. Sonny has his share. as for sweater stags he got a better record to date, but last year he came-up short. Sweaters are not invincible in our pit also on yours. they are just talk of the town here in PI, but not sure winners! I still go for Carol LORN and Dink's lawnmower lines, he he he... |

SWACKLE IS RIGHT!!!!
its not all bruce barnette's sweater line whos winning in big derbies. i salute sonny lagon for being formidable with his sweaters but i want to stress that nene abello is still formidable also with his carol nesmith lines. if the LORN line as claimed by chris that bruce doesnt have it, i want to believe because its carol who really made those sweaters popular in PI and in the world. i dont want to argue you have it also (tims?) but one question is playing on my mind, is it the original one which produces the lines carol made big? thanks. still an abello fan. |

posted 01-16-2002 04:50 AM -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Regardless what you have ben told Sonny payed me for 100 pullets in 2 years. What he did with them I do not know. Bruce is a big lier he has never given me anything that did not belong to Carol or Caris NeSmith. Until the last two years Bruce didnot own but 5 0r 6 birds. He has nothing to do with my breeding program. If you want te real truth contact me, I have no reason to lie or nothing to hide. -------------------- REB |

LORN
Wow! I didn't think this thread was ever going to be resurrected.
Can Bruce reproduce the LORN that Chris claims he can't? Yes, Bruce certainly could. He could breed Brother to sister and come out with the same blood. That may actually even be better than having the original parent stock because Bruce is one heck of a selector. He can cull better than 99.9% of any American breeder and continue the line despite the tight inbreeding. As far as Chris producing the same lines, he could as well. It's been awhile since I last visited but in one pen Chris had the original rooster with six or seven of the original hens. So he definitely could produce it. But what most people don't tell you is that Bruce single mated each of those hens so only he could tell you which hen was producing that actual winning LORN lines. Bruce kept his own private records aside from the ones that he and Chris shared and I truly doubt if Chris knows which hen is the "golden" hen. Dink has some good Sweaters that have been tried and proven here but what he won't tell you is that after he borrowed the $5K Cock from Jumper who borrowed it from Bruce and Carol, he went back to Bruce's place and bought a couple of Possum Sweater hens and other stuff to perpetuate the Dink Fair Sweaters. How much of Bruce's blood is in Dink's that caused Dink to have phenomenal success with his Sweaters? Only Dink knows. And I doubt that he would acknowledge how much positive influence another's breeders blood helped him succeed. As far as Ray Boles attacking his cousin, Bruce Barnett, that seems to be an internal affair. Although, I will tell you that most of the other breeders around their area in Jasper don't really fear Ray's product, at least that's what they tell me and if you're reading this Ray, that didn't come from Bruce. It came from all the guys there who know you and lovingly refer to you as the "Professor". I've been to Ray's place and he keeps it nice and clean to the best of his ability. He does have good looking birds but their sparring style didn't suit my requirements. They just didn't play enough for me. Nene Abello acquired some of the best Sweaters in the world and even Bruce and Carol admit that he ended up with their best stuff. But once again, if you do the research to find out where they originated, you'll find out that it was from Carol who had Bruce breed it at Bruce's place. All of these guys have good Sweaters which are not invincible . . . but they sure are pretty and tough to beat. And how do you argue with their success and extremely high winning percentage? And on a parting note, what is the one common denominator of all these breeders who are successfully breeding Sweaters??? They all originated from Bruce's place. |

tsampoy,
bad example, if you would like not to call yourself a Filipino were OK, just dont put your after it. while you calling yourself an american or americanized. youre still a second or third class citizen of America thats the real truth! later on in your life you will embrace being a Filipino when your kids throw you in elderly homes and just wait for your dying. I hate the Philipine Govt for allowing you to have dual citizenship. It just give some half blooded Filipinos embrace our politics and rob the Filipino people. you should also change your handle tsampoy to an american sounding CANDY of confusion. we just got some reply from a big BRUCE fan, but time will tell we Filipinos with all kinds of sweater we had now can produce better sweaters tommorrow as we did with Duke Hulseys fowl the Lemon of today. Sweaters are nothing but a kelso! Bruces or Carols, had they whipped all the Lemons out there? not that I know of. We true blooded Filipino is as Game as your gamest fowl, we can meet you in the fly and trade shuffles in the ground. Were a far better survivors than what you see on your Tvs, they are far beyond compare even the kids who lives in the streets of Manila. I hope you wont ever call yourself a filipino. |

You are truly a Filipino, me too i don't allowed my kids to speak english at home. I told them if talk to you in english you can them in english, but if they talk to you in tagalog/pampango you have to answer the same. Some Filipino in the u.s. are like dogs that does know how to bark.

my sentiments exactly pitikpalo !!!!
I studied in seattle washington , after graduating from college, am I to stay or go back home ? I went back home ... I wanted to teach others what I have learned... to stay in the states would have made me just another number... at least in the philippines I am still a human being with proper identity. first class citizen all the way.
my choice and my opinion only. |

How the hell did the subject of Barnett sweaters vs. Nesmith sweaters end up in Filippinos vs. American Filippinos? I am also an Asian American, and while I have my opinion on such subject, the last time I look this is a CHICKEN TALK forum.

tsampoy,
yah! were talking about SWEATER here, but its not good bragging about being filipinos born in America are Americans with a hehehe and not Filipino, you have the very right to be called American being a natural born citizen of your adopted country. You just ruffled my every feather in me by referencing Filipino as a disadvantage, most of us knows that and a lot dreamed of having a better life by going there, a few who values family and good friendship will likely to stay and be with their loved ones here. I had a better chance of being an immigrant or a citizen, I also pay big taxes that pay for the bombs that killed innocent poor Agfhans and Iraqis. I decide not. I always be proud to be called a Filipino ,despite the news of having a lot scalawags and a lot of bad press about my country, I also had wish I'll fighting for the right ideology and change our Filipino life better, I just dont have the courage to point my gun on these Filipino brothers, so hardened by challenges in life, but still they can manage to smile and accept life. be it on any side, both just wanted peace and a change for a better life. Working abroad for almost 15 yrs to give my family a better life, send and spend my dollars at home will make a very little difference but somehow make our bad economy afloat. Just have a smile whenever a Filipino make a few pesos in profit from us, balikbayans and not dont feel so bad like your being cheated, because you somehow ease a little of their hardship for a moment, may be help a days meal. I voted for Estrada hoping the man of the people and not intelligent lawyers who can make their own laws and hide their loots, will make a better living condition of the common Filipino. Then a I had to choose joining a rally that morning than watching WSD at araneta to outs him at the palace. I fell obligated to the Filipino people for voting him. The very same people your talking about are there side by side with me, They never questioned my being,we just have the same goal that day. We embraced and shook hand w/ each other after that and go on with our lives NO BIG deal! Its not worth being called anything, I'm still a bad ass myself I just have done what I think I owe to the Filipino people. I only lose a day of my vacation and time to watch a big Derby. Sorry for getting this far to our topic, I just felt obliged for an answer. Lets buy some filipino bred Sweaters (trying to get close to topic ) from our $ or P it can make a little difference.we already has a lot of good ones here, just finding them. |

Classmate
Being DECENT in your ways, I believe, you'll be treated as a human being ANYWHERE you are, and not just a number. I'm happy for you that you are now a FIRST CLASS citizen in our country.
Pareng Tsampoy, classmate pala tayo sa Mendiola. Nung nagkahabulan, nagkahiwalay na kaming mga magkakabarkada. Yung lang, hanggang Maynila lang ako, hindi na umabot sa Sierra Madre. Ingat... As a beginner, I'm learning a lot about this sweaters. this is a very informative thread. Thanks... " forever pinoy" |

Sounds like sour grapes to me!! What do you have against Phil/Americans? You're so proud to stay in the PI so stay. You do not have to put anybody down. A lot of our countrymen including my father and grandfather left home to find a better life. Not because of wanting to be an American but to have a better life!! Today things have not change, people still want to come to America to have a better life. Remember that those bloodlines originated from the USA!!! |
