The story i heard was mr.boles was sick and he killed all his birds...Man who killed all his birds in this manner....what are the chances anyone has them pure..come on ..kills his own birds but people claim to have them pure......his actions dont make me think he was interested in anyone getthing his fowl...Could anyone shed life on this story because i dont have any facts..thanks

Hey Tex from what I've researched and looked for there is some that do have them but as with anything that makes money everywhere u lookpeople have them for sale some high dollar Ans some fair priced.the conclusion I have come to is this topics ruffles a lot of feathers. But if you have some and are content woohoo but names don't make winners. It depends on how you cross them and prepare them. I say this because the first bird I ever owned was an Oriental cross and first fowl ever purchased was Asil (boles to top it off) but the crosses I made. With them are something else. Where as I got friends that wouldn't take an Oriental if you paid them. Went off subject completely but boles to me is a name which I too am guilty of searching for but because u have a boles doesn't mean u will win. There is a thread on hear. Long a$$ thread at that but very interesting. Look through archives

Jim Clem would know as much as anyone... but what I hear is this... Bobby Boles & Les Melville were partners at one time... the reason they broke off the partnership is, Les let some of the birds out & that pissed Bobby off... so... if Les let some out & once was partners with Bobby... it only stands to reason that someone has em... including Les.

i am rather interested on who breeds now bobby boles fowl that are winning in major longknife competition in the philippines

Bobby shipped 33 of his last remaining chickens to a guy in Denver CO before he passed on, so this story you heard is not entirely accurate. Most of the chickens were later killed in a tornado strike though.

just want to let you guys know that i cant say about every thing but Bob Howard got his from Les melville from Oregon , dont want to argue but i know this for a fact as Robbie White took him to Les M home to get them . Robbie said that himself also. and Les says he has Boles chickens and i beleive it and thats good enough for me . as he did real well with them and as for . the ones that came from Ray Collins in Texas he told me that he got his from Les M . also so if he doesnt have Bobs stuff he must have gotten good birds cause alot of people have done well with them.

After some years of reading, researching and owning some "now", I came to a conclusion that the Boles Asil is just another oriental like any other...

It don't matter if you have the "Real Mccoy" or something like it or something from it... If you do not know what to do with them and get them prepared like any other game fowl, then you ain't got nothing... Right Mr. Jim?

Also, to echo the long discussion, Bobby Boles has been gone for some time, "if ever" he did leave any pure ones (and I believe he did), they are not the same as they were when he bred them, for better or worst...

I would take everything I read about the Bobby Boles Legend with a "grain of salt" as the man is not here anymore to tell us the facts from his own words...

yes, from mac whites own writing he states that he asked robbie white if he could get some asils from bobby boles. robbie told mac that he cant get any from bobby and nobody else can get them either unless they steal them. so robbie told him that he knew of someone else who had good asils and that was les melvill. the first off spring of the original trio from les was no good, les sent mac another trio and out of that trio is where he got the goods. mac crossed him onto some sid blood from dr. herring. bob howard called mac white and asked if he could use the asil grades. then bob wanted to buy all the grades from mac. with the consent from les, mac sold the fowl to bob howard. bob howard did well with the grades, then the fowl were sent to the p.i. mac white states that every asil cross rooster that bob howard showed were bred and raised by himself, james mac white.
