Pasay cockers stage derby tonight

SUPERB cockfighting action resumes at the air-conditioned Pasay City Cockpit tonight as the Pasay Cockpit Cockers Association 4-Cock Derby gets going at 7 p.m. with at least 50 tussles. Sponsors are Sagupaan Hammer, Sagupaan Mite Free and Sagupaan B-50 Forten. Entry fee is P10,000 in the derby that stakes P300,000. Expected to field their best bets tonight are PCCA members Joel Fernando, Joey Lapid, Mon Torres, Cocker of the Year Rey Briones, Tony Lasala, Benjie Lim, Inger Valdez, Cito Manansala, Capt. Emil Chua, Councilor Ferdie Eusebio, Joey Lapid and Jun Topacio, among others. Slated on Oct. 3 is another 4-stag derby with pit manager Butchoy Olano as host. Entry fee is P7,700.
