Question Feeding

Hi Doc,

Great forum and i have had lots of tips from this forum so thanks for that.
Was just wondering, my birds get fed a mixture of crushed corn, a broiler pellet or growing pellet i think you would call it over there and a bit of sun flower seed mixed into that with some red malt seed. The birds love the sun flower seed and eat that always first. They get the odd bit of fruit and veg and tinned fish and a bit of cat food now and again. I think there diet is pretty much settled and sufficient. They also get vitamins in the drinking water and sometimes dry over the food. Egg whites as well.
My question is why do they always eat the sun flower seed first?. Secondly they seem to love peanuts but i am not sure how good peanuts are for game fowl so i do not give much of this.

If sunflower seed was part of their feed mixtrue from the early stages of rearing, I will not be surprised if they would pick on this first before consuming their feed.
Regarding peanuts, it is a good source of protein but I would limit thier intake because of its high fat content which can put too much fat in their gut/sapola.
