Regulating Soaked Feeds / Grains
Doc,
We normally soak grains for 8 to 9 hrs for the day 1 to 17 keep. but how do I regulate the soaking of feeds during the last three days? Do I have to reduce the soaking time to lessen the moisture intake of the grains? How long? How long do we have to soak the ground corn to be used for the carboloading in case they needed to be soaked? Is there a disadvantage in feeding them dry during the carboloading process? thanks |

i soaked my grains cause i want them to digest it easily . i soaked grains caused i want them too have a built like football shape . then when we get that built . i gradually cut the time to soaked it so that they wont get stress .miosture too u have to check we dont want to much moisture on fight day .so its depends how you calculate it . i dont soak my grains 4 days before fyt cause i dont want them to fyt wet . wet rooster is a dead rooster . hehehhehe. so it depends how you do it . if your comfortable soaking your grains until fyt day its fine .but always make sure the moisture of your rooster is not wet or dry .so its really up to the handler to adjust how you do it . i usually soaked my grains 2 hours after i got the builtwhat i want on my chicken its all in the book . i dont worry to give them dry because there is milk all the way fyt day Last edited by Blots jr : October 10th, 2007 at 08:33 AM. |

Re: Regulating Soaked Feeds / Grains
What you do from Day 1 up to Fight Day should be consistent. Meaning to say?? the proportion of the grains (mixture) and the length of time it was soaked... remains a constant thing, right from the start.
If you want to adjust or regulate their moisture during the carbo-loading period (last 4 days), I suggest that you have a soaked crack-corn available, to add, whenever their droppings are dry. If their droppings are wet, then you add...dry crack-corn instead. . Bottomline: "you base your adjustments according to their droppings".
