need your help badly, can u give some recommendations on how to speed up moulting. i must have cocks ready in early december but till now their feathers are still complete. your advise please

thanks for the advise fellow cockers, after a few days of heavy rain in our place there have been a great changes and development in my cocks feathers (as reported by my brother and handler). i told him to continue wetting the cocks using water hose during hot days.

Install a light bulb on the cock's stall and increase the LIGHT EXPOSURE TO 14 hours from a normal 12 hours. Contrary to popular belief dont forget to give extra-nutrients in feeds or water to help the body recover from moulting. Remember, moulting is a stress factor

Thank you sa payo mo Tol, hindi ako nakasali sa paderby ng C4 last Jan 12, anyway nakaprecon na lahat ng nokis ko, pag uwi ko na lang sa March ang laban.

the worst thing u can do to make them moult faster is to put them inside cage...makes the fowls joints weak...when u fyt them they break easy...

its better just leave them in the cord to moult out...

Expose them to stress. Put them in a dark cage without food for 2 days. They will be forced to moult.

An old cocker told me when the cocks start molting to give cracked corn for thier diet and to hold water for a day.In California his birds were molting in July and by November the new feathers were ready for Thanksgiving Shows....

Soak them in a pail of water everyday.

Switch to hi-protein diet. 21% protein up.

Avoid too much grains coz this will only make them heavy once they have completed their moulting. Jockey oats will help prevent sapola.

I agree in giving them high protein diet if you want them to moult early. But i think the real question is why would you want you're bird to moult early, it will takes six months the least before your bird can recover from stress. That is a considerable time and expenses before you can fight them.

i suggest to allow the cocks to go through their natural moult and adjust your feeds to lessen the stress while they moult.

feed strictly corn for one week to lower the CP count then the following week mix a high protein pellet to double the protein then back to all corn, this will stress their systems and cause them to start dropping their feathers faster but once they do i recommend returning to a higher protein to support feather recovery and staying there for the remainder of the moult

Use a good Vitamin, Amino Acid and Trace Mineral Supplement.
New feathers demand good nutrition for their rapid growth and formation. Supplementation of sulphur containing amino acids and vitamins are known to greatly improve feather growth rate and strength.

They need a high protein diet during this period. Aside from their usual maintenance feeds, giving supplements like: meat & bone meal / Hi Pro Dog food / Fish Meal is very beneficial because it provides "good quality protein" derived from animal source.

Aside from giving B-complex vitamins......Cod Liver oil and Wheat Germ oil is also important to make their feathers shiny.
