Re: boiled grains...

di naman kailangang lutong-luto. just try boiling it for about 8-10 minutes. yung tamang-tama lang na di masyadong malabsa yung mais. magandang pang point feed sa manok. di mabilis matuyo ang manok especially during the critical hours leading up to the fight. during the pointing period or the last three meals before the fight, wala na naman talaga masyadong nutrients ang pagkainng manok since yung point feed nila is basically high on carbohydrates.

sir, ok lang ba kung ibabad ang cracked corns & oat groats sa tubig like 4-8 hrs before feeding, instead of boiling?

Re: boiled grains...

basta ako during the days leading up to the fight, nakababad yung point feed ko para consistent kase wet feeding ako. pero during summer days. yung last three feedings ko before the fight medyo niluluto ko yung point feed para mas kumarga ng moisture. otherwise nakababad lang din ito.

Re: boiled grains...

you can correlate it to cooking vegetables. if you cook it too long, the nutrients of the vegetables decrease. in tagalog, nawawala sustansya ng mga gulay pag masyado mo itong niluluto. ganun din sa grains.

Grains are actually seeds…..There are some grains that lose their nutrients when they are boiled and there are some that have no nutritive value at all when given in their raw form. Some grains once soaked, start to germinate and I would say that they are best given in this form. Legumes like mongo, tafilan, green peas and soybeans must be heated or cooked, to activate their crude protein.
In my opinion, a good "21 Day Keep" feed formulation must be consistent from the start...... no changes in the proportion. Hence, it will be easier for you to monitor if they are wet, dry, off or on point….Of course, experience would teach you the right thing.

This is a very nice thread and i hope others would share more.

Re: boiled grains...

Doctor,
Last Sunday I used this method as my pointing feed. I boiled the finely cracked corn (washed first b4 boiling) by putting the corn in boiiling water and switching off the fire and letting it cool by itself. I boiled it at 8.00pm and use it to feed my cock at 6.30am the next morning. I fought the cock at approximtely 3.15 pm the same day. To the boiled corn, I add brown rice plus honey and raisins. It seem to work as my cock was very energetic and strong in his fight.
I believe that boiling the corn does not do any harm if the feed is intended for pointing. In fact the corn tend to become very starchy after boiling which i think is a good thing. The only problem is that the boiled corn tend to increase four times its volume as it absorbed the water used to boil it. More like when we boiled rice. See how it increase in volume when the rice is cooked? So when i feed my cock using this mix, it works perfectly for me as I can give him slightly more feed for his last meal in the morning and not worrying that the feed might not come out of his system in time as it is easily digested.
IMHO<

Re: boiled grains...

buy one alaska evaporated milk
yung halos isang dangkal ang taas
ilagay mo sa kaldero
add 2 cans ng water
yung can ng evaporated milk ang sukatan mo
so nasa 2:1 ratio yan
2 parts water and 1 part milk
dyan mo ngayon ipakulo ang grains mo
gamit ng ilang americans yang method na yan

pag kumulo at lumamig
ilagay mo sa ref
ilabas mo lang yung ipapakain mo

The mere fact that their grains is positive for aflatoxin... indicates that, it is no longer safe for your chickens... even if you boil it!

OBSERVING THE GRAINS THROUGH YOUR NAKED EYE:

When it comes to whole corn, the presence of a green or black spots around the germ part of the corn, indicates it is positive for aflatoxin.
When it comes to wheat (trigo) and jockey oats, AFLA is positive if you observed a grayish dust particles in the ridges of the grain.
Of course, having it analyzed in a laboratory would still be the best.

Wink Re: boiled grains...

The nutrients wont be lost or drain away if you follow this simple tips,we in the food industry especially those in the fine dining world used this process;
Bring to a boil the water to be used then place the grains in a kitchen strainer for a few seconds dip it in the boiling water and assuming that it is already cooked, after dipping it wash the grains with running water to prevent internal cooking so that the grains still looks fresh.

Agree Doc, 100% true, mycotoxins (mold toxins of w/c aspergullus flavus molds produces aflatoxin) are neither heat nor chemical "labile"..meaning they cannot be destabilized by heat or any chemical..once the myctoxins (parang pinaka dumi/ipot ito nang molds) are deposited onto the grains kapit tuko na yan.

The best approach is to avoid having mold establish on the grains..of course that's beyong the control of the buying public. There are toxin binders available in the market but are more prectical at the feedmillers level.
