feed mixture..

good day doc.. just want to be corrected. im a young backyard breeder who have 14 stags right now. this is the product of my first breeding. my feed mixture is 2 packs of thunder bird stag developer, 1 kilo BSC, mixed with grind 1/2 kilo crack corn and 1/2 kilo special concentrete. some of them consume all and some not. i deworm them all at 4am then give them bread soaked with milk in the morning. I deloused them and sometimes skip one meal for them to regain their apetite the next feeding time. but still some dont have that apetite im looking. is thier something wrong with my mixture? i give them also selectrogen in thier water. and place sometimes pullets in thier flying pen. can you give me new mixture. tnxx.

Re: feed mixture..

Re: feed mixture..

try supplementing them with b-complex vitamins to enhance thier appetite..how many grams of feed do you give them..sometimes we tend to overfeed them because we get excited and want them to develop faster than usual..in the process they will lose thier interest on the food given..
or maybe you need to rotate them around diffrent pens or teepee's evry week to make them always active to stimulate thier appetite a bit..the weather might also be a factor if its too hot or too cold or wet..anyway lets wait for the doctors advice for a more effective solution..goodluck my friend...

Re: feed mixture..

g-ayo thanks..
ya i rotate them in thier flyng pen with a short cord in thier legs. but everytime i do it they just play their feeds and try to chalenge their new room mate or calling the pullets that is roaming around. i give them them sometimes 20-30-40grms it depends their apetite. i check for pepita but no signs. but they all have red face and allert. the problem is sometimes their apetite..

Before I answer your question, which of those ingredients are often left by your roosters?

One possible reason why they don't finish their feeds is the absence of stone grits in their diet. I suggest that you provide stone grits & clean water at all times. You can also lessen your pellet mixture because I think it's too much, and since it's summer...... you can also lessen their corn intake.
Giving B-Complex shot (.5cc) twice a week for 2 consecutive weeks might restore their appetite.
For the picky feeder, try skipping 2 meals and when you resume, feed only half of the regular amount until they.... consume everything. Then you can put them back to their regular ration.

Re: feed mixture..

Good Day DOC.

I Received your conditioning CDs and already tested it and the result are 3 fast win out of 3 fights, I have question about the holding ratio what is the %CP should I used in your mixture and where can we buy the grits?, Only oyster grit is availlable in poultry supply. I can't get stone or granite grits. Thanks.

Re: feed mixture..

Doc, for maintenance feed is 60% pellet and 40% cracked corn good enough? (thinking economically).

Re: feed mixture..

Baka magkasapola mga manok mo. and if you're not sure with the moisture of your corn, it might contain aflatoxin, why not use ordinary concentrate with lots of red trigo instead.

Just Imagine corn based Feed Millers, they are strict in selecting corn and they are using toxin binders to lower the Aflatoxin level.

be careful sir. Happy cocking.

Re: feed mixture..

I put a claypot filled with stonegrits placed inside their pens or teepees, so that they will have the freedom to pick on the stones whenever they need it.

Re: feed mixture..

If raw stone grits are not available, the closest substitute is True Grits(capsule form). I suggest that you break open the capsule and pour the contents as toppings on your feed. Take note that the chicken's natural instinct is to pick on the grits whenever they need it. Thus, forcibly giving it in capsulized form might do more harm than good especially if their gizzard is already loaded with it.
Let this be a guiding principle: Stop giving stone grits on the last four(4) days of your 21 Day Keep.

Sorry for my late reply.. amigo. They have the tendency to accumulate gut fat using this proportion.

Re: feed mixture..

If your birds possess a well-rounded chest, then "dry feeding" is OKEY. Generally, giving dry feeds to thin-chested roosters will only make them LIGHTER (underweight).

Therefore, you should categorize those birds that can be fed "DRY".........and those birds (thin-breasted) that should be given "soaked feeding".

Thumbs up Re: feed mixture..

tnx again doc.
by the way, i just received some good news today from my friend who I sent to attend your class last june. He said, he won and 'twas against a tough cocker from tanza. He probably would have won 2x in a row using your expertise. Unfortunately, the tari we just got from augustmoon really was a waste of investment & had to use our friend's tari instead.
tnx again doc and tnx to your academy. So far, everything is looking good for us & hopefully more wins to come.
