Activities for Paraw Festival of Banate, Iloilo:

April 7 - Pinta Layag or "Sail Painting."
All sails of participating sailboats will be painted with the ff. categories:
Big boats - Ocean or Marine conservation.
Small boats - 3 categories namely:
a) About gamefowls
b) Against illegal drugs
c) About the Holy Week

April 8 - Karera de Paraw.
Acoustic Guitar/Singing contest

April 9 - Search for Miss Paraw.

This is only the 3rd year of the Festival. The aim of this festival is to entertain, help individuals & businesses & convey environmental & social awareness to the local people & tourists alike.

With enough funding, maybe this will become a weeklong festival by next year. Funding is supposed to come from the sales of cockfighting video especially from the 7-cock Candelaria derby but the cost of staging the festival has ballooned to almost 200,000.00 pesos this year which is way beyond the projected profit from video sales. Good thing that friends and relatives and some businesses have offered monetary donation.

I would like to thank all video customers, donors and volunteers for their help. If not for you I will never be able to stage this crowd drawer event.
