I hope it can be set up that only registered nicks may be used as handles inside the chatroom?

that is was our aim when we overhauled the old chat system. For the most part, it is working fine naman. But then again, there are people who are too smart for their own good, and the community suffers.

If Microsoft can be outsmart, how much more ordinary mortals like us?

We have a moderator option at the chat, but who can moderate the chat 24/7?

We can also authenticate every chat user, but we have to screen & build the list.

Apart from resources, so little time available to do this.

Perhaps, the CHAT feature should be included in the paid access privilege. Only subscribers will be allowed in the chat room?

WM, actually it just happens...I mean after you clik the link to go to the chat, the load-up of the chat will stall for one to put his desired handle and login (at the chat). It does not automatically signs one in. But then again it does not happen to all or every time.

Could it be the settings of the user? Maybe, but I have doubts.

Even if i want to go in w/ another handle...i get that login window for abt 2 secs if lucky...most times, i get auto logged in.

The system just puts your handle as the default value in the Username of the chat module. The textbox for the username is NOT "locked" thus anybody can change his Username in the chatroom by simply typing-in anything.

If the admins can find a way to "lock" or in other words "disable" the Username textbox, then whatever the default value is, which is supposedly your Sabong.net.ph Handle, cannot be changed anymore.

The forum tool or BBS tool that this site is using is VBULLETIN. The VBULLETIN source code can be modified. The only modification needed to make the Chat Room login more secure is to "DISABLE" the Username field. It should default to your current Handle or whatever it is you used to Login to the Sabong.net.ph site.

The only drawback for the admins of this site if too much customization is done, is if VBULLETIN releases some patches or some updates, the customizations that have been done might have an effect to the application of the new patches or updates.

Thanks for the enligthening information, I hope that the public understands the pros and cons we have to deal with as far as customizations and modifications.

Believe it or not, we can actually enfore password based logins to the chat but...

1. it requires extra time from us (administration, set-up and maintenance)

2. we thought users preferred instant sign-in to the chat

Anyway, we have logs of all chat sessions (something that we pay extra for). We can investigate that but time is not on our side.

Recently updated my operating system and can no longer chat. Before, an icon required me to download Virtual Machine which I refused until I accidentally deleted it. I'm currently using XP and need your help to see my friends in the chat room once again.

I have to resurrect this thread.

My handle is still being used at chat.

Most recent was at about 6am Manila time, saturday 28feb.

I have often asked people to email me re: transactions. Now, it is not only because it is more convenient, BUT because it is safer.

PLS PLS do not transact business w/ me over chat....rude people float around.

To those pathetic people....be sure you are fully protected when the circle gets back to you. You might not know what damage using ones persona does....careful, they might do it to you too.
