Can We Help Maintain This Site?

Have you noticed lately that surfing through the site takes quite sometime? Some people suggested that maybe the server has to be upgraded.

I believe that the owners have to invest time, money and effort to maintain this site that we enjoy....and am sure can be a thankless job!

Since we all want to come back here...maybe to learn, to trade, to laugh...whatever....can we all help maintain?

Maybe people may banner ads? We can have a tiered membership fee (it should be a lot cheaper than making mistakes or buying a book only to find out what you asked wasn't tackled) as the forums undeniably are helpful?

We sure will work out perks for members, like discounts or the like.

This isn't about any organization...it is about all of us, part of the site.

Thumbs up Great Idea!

Thanks to all concerned members of the site

Though we truly envisioned this site to be supplemented by advertisers and not the users, we need all the help we can get.

With solraya's and Kidd's suggestions, we can offer you better services and performance from the site.

If there are enough interested parties, we can go towards a membership-based website wherein your membership is tiered to the information and features that suit your needs or budget.

On our part, we can use to the money to get faster proccessors, more memory, and bigger disks. And maybe, even hire people to do the leg-work for all of us.

It sounds like a fair and mutually beneficial plan for all involved.

In the meantime, feel free to give us more ideas while we figure out how to make this work well in terms of security, ease-of-use, stability, and other technical issues.

Thanks and regards!

People who don't see the need to pay can still browse through most pages. Members may have access to pages like contests, raffles, special articles, discounts from advertisers. We can organize seminars etc.

Maybe a US$5, php250/annum membership fee isn't much? Posters in the classified maybe US$25? Try the banners too!

Let us have a minimal fee. I'm sure the members would not mind it. It's like a consolation for what this board have help them in whatever capacity.

I think a min fee is a good idea. Also people selling through the Classifieds should pay a bit more as they are making money from this site.
New members should be able to post up to 5 times before having to pay membership they should get access to the forums but nothing else till a full member.
Just some ideas
Cheers

No problemo w/ that!

Even if I don't sell chickens I'm willing to help. Informations and friends you get to know here are worth more that $5.

But I suggest you make it lower P 100 a year for those who wish to be a site member and P 200 if the member wish to make use of the classified ads.

No imposition should be made to those who does't want to be a site member para walang pilitan.

or why not conduct some seminars, make raffles or sell something and the proceed will go to the site. I think this would be a better option.

joey bravo,

as you said...$5 is worth it....

what we can do is work out something for people who can't afford, like students etc...we can iron out all these.

the perks you mentioned are all in the drawing board

thank you for the replies above

Sagot ni Kidd membership ko na P 100. hehehe

My point is that the fee should not be too burdensome anyway there are still other means to help the site.

Arrow All good!

These are all good ideas.

$5 for no ads sounds fair enough, and $25 for posting in the Classifieds is also good. Also, posting and viewing in the Gallery should be another tier as this is resource intensive for us. Maybe $10?

Keep 'em coming.

Cheers!

Yes! Sentenciador...and CF will help in the collection of fees...hehehe, di namin ibubulsa, just our assistance in the
how-to collect-system as we are the ones used to such and have procedures inplaced. I mean our system will avoid using credit cards for US-based members...and also for some of the CF members outside Pinas who has CF financial matters to deal with.

Next post, how the CF members will adjust to such change...and our exemptions too of course...hehehe.

I say 2 tiered is fine, regular members and sellers. Once you get a good membership base, it will be worth it.

No offense to existing organizations...of w/c some or most are not members of...I'd say no exemptions. Membership for the site is on an individual basis, and will not mean being a member of an organization.... let's not alienate the non org member. They might feel that since X group has exemptions, then they are different.

As for changes, there may be no change as far as what we get for free now anyway....maybe the forthcoming will be the ones that will be available to members? just a thought balloon here...

Hold on...remember we have an ongoing drive already, that's $25 for each member.

I can easily cancel that of course and divert those still on hold. But that's one guaranteed $300 a year disappearing!

your choice,

hehehe...

Plus, I was not done yet...I mentioned about my next post but you caught my attention right away Sol...so, here is my next supposedly post and more later...and flexible too.

I will not accept any new CF without being a paid member to the site.

And also, I'll take care of the existing CFs...heheheh.

Thanks Sol...no problem here and I also sabat right away, hehehe.

About a year-plus ago, I was here already when this site went down for some time. I will hate the day it will happen again.

So, let's make this happen as soon as we can.

I have done my part in freezing CF applications...that will give me leverage to take care of our part and to show I'm sincere in helping the site survive and grow.

Bakit naman drastic ang freezing policy and transfering of CF fees . Wala bang comittee tayo to decide on the issues? Any deliberations made, voting, minutes and quorom.

Pardon me for my comment sir, I'm just curious coz I'm new to CF.

excuse me muna...hindi sa nakikialam ako...pang CF yan, maybe it can be discussed in the CF forum?

Majority isn't CF yet....if we lengthen this discussion here, it may derail the topic....maraming salamat.

Let us support solraya stand. Let's take this easy. 2 tier first, then probably later on (1 year ) we can imposed on other area. The point is that let us not make this a burden at the outset so it can easily take-off.

Sentenciadors...

You need to set a date...I can't hold the freezing of CF application more than a week. If I will lift it, sure, you don't have to approve my exemption request...but that assistance we have currently on-the-go may have to kiss it's uss goodbye too...as I will not impose double-taxation on our members...heheheh.

Arrow Hi.

Wow, this is getting magulo!

Anyway, what happens in CF is really up to you Kidd, and better discussed on your board. You can go ahead and accept applications if you want. I cannot give a deadline as this is in the drawing board.

But, anyway, have a look at what the Staff has come up with:

5 Tiers:

Let's not make it magulo...hehehe.

Too many hands dipping in the pot makes a mess.

Individually, your 5-Tier is perfect to me...I highly encourage its enforcement.

In as far as the CF is concerned, we'll have to think how we will adapt to that 5-Tier for now and what's for us as CF along with our ongoing assistance drive.

later,

Arrow Believe it or not...

Out of topic, but just to clear things up...

DNS is the responsibility of your ISP, not ours, OK? Got it? You should complain to them first. We are fine.

Hasn't something like this happened before? You were complaining that an email to slasher@sabong.com.ph was sent back to you, and you were quick to blame us? When in fact YOU made a mistake? As the address was "slashers" with an "s". There is no "slasher@sabong.com.ph" on our site, nor did we ever say so...

You were nice about it then; why all the angst now?

Think about it... We run a tight ship here... Most mistakes are made by the users.

Have a good day!

Good lessons, Senti...and you are right, my post maybe, maybe, is out of the subject...heheheh.

But, once this site is unplugged, the surfers will more than likely get one of those messages...that was my hint.

Why will it get unplugged? If it's a loss-loss situation for you guys, it may happen...and I'm trying hard to prevent that.

cheers!

I fully understand you, senti. I also maintain multiple sites and in my own experience users are quick to blame the host without first asking what really causes it.
