CF Charity 2004
Fellow CF's,
Yesterday, San Roque, gamecock96 and myself went over to Hospicio de San Jose to hand over 165k PHP proceeds from our recent GD to Sister Kit Legaste. Over and above our donation, the San Mateo Municipal Govt. has also turned over a sizeable amount through us. TBS http://www.sabong.net.ph/gallery/sho...php?photo=8797 |

Touch of Class... A generous act.
Some heartwarming tidbits. Last year, in addition to the hefty donation to Hospicio de San Jose by the Cyberfriends, JIMAR donated his share of the Any 3. This year, CF-Rodel Costales (RC Amoyong) also made a personal contribution. An unexpected favorable side result of the two highly successful Global Derbies 2003 and 2004 in San Mateo was the awareness of my local patrons and guests about the beneficiary, Hospicio de San Jose. Just as they got to know what Cyberfriends is all about, they also got to know the plight , the needs and the helping goals of this charity institution. Just last week, I was informed that some locals donated some amounts to HDSJ. I guess , during memories like these, it was worth all the pagod and all the flak. |

Before the GD2004, I'd been asked by a number of friends why do I have to participate in that derby (because SM is too far from Liliw) where there are a lot of scheduled derbies nearby where we can participate instead. Even on the day of the derby, I'd been asked what's on that derby that I had to participate to.
But for all of those questions, I proudly answered them that it's mainly because that derby is for charity, for HDSJ in particular. Though luck is not on our side that derby night, I told my staff that we'll come back on GD2005 not to take "revenge", but it's because we're indirectly helping unfortunate people while enjoying our sabongs . Taas lahat ng kilay ng mga kasama ko... ![]() Special thanks to Chili, JAR, TBS and others who made this event a very succesful one. Keep it up guys... ![]() |
