Wow, 4-5 million!

The Biggest BET!

I saw the post on what was the most spent on gamefowl and I thought to myself, what is the biggest center bet you ever witnessed. Personally, I've seen 2 fights that were fought for $20,000 each in Hawaii and also one that was for $90,000. This is in US Dollars. I've also seen outreageous amounts on Philippine videos. What was the biggest wager you ever witnessed?

The Biggest Bet!

WSD 1989, Chavit Singson vs Boy Primallion. PP 1, 100,000.00 against PP 330,000.00, the difference nilarga ni Mayor Dalipe and Sir Atong A. wala pang WSD footage at that time. Nanalo si Singson!

1994 TYC 6M 6 Cock Derby

Manila group led by Vic Yu wagered 1.1 M for their entry against 110 T of a Bacolod cocker which I can no longer remember. William Chiongbian made the sahod and added another 1.5 M. The "dehado" won and all Mr. Chiongbian said was..."wala pa man mohubas ang dagat", meaning the sea has not dried out, referring to his shipping industry business William Lines now WG&A. Sabagay!!!

in English...

Is gambling aspect of cockfighting popular only in the Philippines, or in other countries, too?

It seems to me like in RP, the bets are kind of big, even for the small time derbies... what about in the US, Guam, Puerto Rico, Peru, etc. What kind and amount of betting is involved?

BrilleSeeker, I believe I saw that fight as well. I believe Chavit Singson's entry name at that time was "Northerners" if I am not mistaken. Panalo nga siya but it was not an easy win.

WSD (2001 or 2002? . . . .

mukhang napakalimutin ko na yata ah . . . tsk tsk

Tanong Lang Po

Arrow gerry

gerry,

They bet big also in the US. Not as much as Filipinos. But it can get to the thousands of dollars per fight. Mexico bets big too (they are similar to Pinoys )

Cheers!

Anyone else? Guam, Hawaii, Malaysia??

Addendum...

Might as well mention it,

Cubans (Wherever they are in the world) Play $2,000 fights. MINIMUM. Naked Heel.

Since, we're talking gambling, I guess I can speak...

Big BETS on COCKFIGHTS! Gamefowl breeding and Cockfighting will always be there. ALWAYS! And betting, is always a part of it...

Saw a picture of a Brazilian farm in Gamecock magzine... The place was protected by guard towers and M-60 machine guns...

It's a big deal!

Sorry for blabbing, but that's the way it is

Thanks.

additional...

I have heard a lot of big bets but when it comes to consistency i think nobody beat the guts of Danny Pe. He used the ZW during his time and was the reason behind the price of the ZW birds. Danny Pe bets a minimum P110K in the pit until this time, but during his heydays he would always have it open parada, to the point that his money would be on "logro" on top of the center ring, and together with him is a secretary/accountant that records all the money bets and at what logro. He usually won. Lately, he fights a lot in Dampalit, malabon and as usual it danny Pe against the whole pit, when his bird losses you can feel the whole pit shake as if an earthquake has just take place.

Nobody can beat the guts of this man...

I've seen Danny Pe several times in Laloma. Yes, his normal center bet was 110k, aside from his outside bet.

I believed he has one of the best birds I have seen in a hackfights. And his winning percentage is high,(ako rin, hehhe, syempre dun tayo sa lamang pupusta,,heheh)

He and his handlers were good in matchmaking. That is probably the reason why they win a lot in hackfights.

Cheers

hmmmm...

Ad infinitum,

Don't really know if related sila but i agree that Jun Pe also uses zamboanga fowl.

Bhok,

Danny Pe pays big money for good quality fowls, that is why he also bets big, not to mention that he has that gambler's guts. Lumalaban yan ng ubusan...hehehe, another additional info about DP is that he just happen to be the first entry i heard na nagpwera ng laban in a derby becoz hindi nakasa yung 110K nya, binibigyan lang sya ng 11K...hehehe

My Mistake,

It should be.......

One of the reason why he wins a lot in hackfights.

Yes, Swallow, your right, he pays big money to acquire a quality fowls.

Im just curious, is he also participating in bigtime derbies such as WSD,UCAP Derbies,etc....If so, what is his entry name?

Malaking pusta

Fchamp,

I saw a fight against two buliks here in Sydney, Australia ang pusta was $41,000. The Loser tumakbo.... aray ko ang sakit. Next fight an Old Filipino Man bet $17,000 on his rooster...he won in the drag after 40 minutes.....Ruble hatch daw 5 time winner kaya 1 year na savings niya pinusta sa manok......kakatakot..muntik nang matalo.

Being in the Miltary and traveling the world, I have seen fights from Guam, Hawaii, U.S and the Philippines. In the states the biggest bet I have seen is approximately $10,000, Hawaii is about $25,000 and the rooster was a B or C rated bird, Guam about $3000 and not worth anymore and the philippines, P1.2 million which is about $24,000 at a consistent rate. by far the birds of RP and the Mainland U.S are very tough and I would be sheddin off water weight if I were to bet that much. In San Manuel Cockpit, Isabela, the bets were ave. about P200,000=$4000U.S or so. Of course, around Batangas and Manila a lot higher. I plan on attending some derbies in Cebu in the Future

Just putting my 2 cents in

the largest center bet i've witnessed was made by atong ang at the san juan, sometime in 1992, just a few fights after a bird he handled was badly whipped by its opponent and lost around 500K. His initial bet was 1M, but mayor jessie viceo was given the microphone by the pit manager so he could square the bet - obviously a member of his circle owns the cock atong's bird is up against.
teasing, mayor viceo asked atong: "wala na ba?" atong obliged and said he was wagering another million. A few seconds later mayor viceo squared the bet and there was applause in the arena that incidentally was managed by atong at that time.

At present the sabungero who wages big center bet is Gerry Ramos. Last year 2003 WSD, he waged P1.1 million naikasa ni Calvo, di ko na lang matandaan kung sino ang nanalo. 2nd fight, he waged P1.6 million.

Last Monday in 2004 WSD, wala akong alam na in millions na center bet.

highest bet

Update:

ang pinakamalaking nasaksihan ko ay yung laban ng candelaria last year between Patrick Antonio and Jesry Palmares.
