Derby Prize
Friends,
Thank you very much. ![]() |

Derby Prizes
If the derby promotion says GUARANTEED PRIZE, then they should give the full amount declared as the prize. Unless the promoters had discussed with those who joined prior to the start of the derby that the guaranteed prize will not be met and as long as everybody agree. - IMHO
If the derby promotion says CASH PRIZE, then this is usually dependent on the number of entries...in cases where the number of entries cannot cover for the cash prize, then it is OK to adjust it according to the number of entries. Checks? - accept only house checks; otherwise agree to get the prize in cash only lest you want to go back a number of times to the cockpit coz the check bounced It should not matter whether you are a smalltime or a bigtime cocker. What matters is if you will agree to being shortchanged or not. If you are being shortchanged and you show them that you are a softie, then they can get away with it. So better show them you are a toughie and that you demand to get what is due to you coz you bagged the championship. -BG |

I am sure that a lot of guys here would be able to assist you in your querries. |

Sorry for starting this thread in tagalog. I'm a newbie on the board and didn't see the instructions..........
Anyways, my original questions were, if anything anomalies that anybody has encountered lately in the Phil especially the Greater Manila area. I was home last month and entered a 3 cock derby. I noticed some pratices that I'm not used to that's why I'm asking. Because also of some things I've read on here before of people winning derbies and not getting their money, I wanted to know if these are still happening. Battle Gear, You know, as much as I'd like to be a toughie, I don't think they'll believe me. I'm just a little runt compared to those big bellied, thug like people they got hanging around the announcer's area. I'm just a balikbayan on a short vacation trying to enjoy the sport. I might not make it back, he-he. If a derby is promoted by somebody else other than the management, does the management guarantee payment to the winners? again, if the derby is promoted by somebody else other than the management, shouldn't the rules of the cockpit be enforced? If not enforced, whose rules should be followed? My first observation from the 3 cock derby we entered: on the weigh in of the cocks, you write down your entered weight on the entry form but the cocks are not tagged. I repeat, your entered cocks after the weigh in, are not tagged. In short, you give them your lowest weight on each of your 3 cocks and they will match you. The cocks being not tagged, can be replaced by another cock. Which actually happened to us. The people around said that it's okay to replace a cock with another. ![]() |
