Sir Nico that effect is called Vigenetting. That is to give more emphasis on your subject specially when taking Portraits! Just one of the many FRAMING styles...

Don't worry sir Nico the more often you use your camera the sooner you will improve your skills just avoid using the "AUTO" mode because you will not learn anything with it! You can use Program mode instead to get an idea of what settings(Aperture,Shutter,ISO,WB) to use.

Play around with Aperture mode, Shutter mode, and even better Manual mode!

Here is another type of FRAMING called as "Drop Shadow" Technique.
