Re: Leiper Hatch

Royal Farm,
chocolate grey hen story, I got this in Grit & Steel
issued Sept. 2008 and the magazine cover was
Ted Mclain and Harry Parr.
Harry Parr write a letter to McWhite of loretto tennesie
regarding the chocolate gray story.
Just rewrite what was in his letter.

According to my old friend who have been
50 yrs. In breeding and retired already
Mclain hatch foundation
is made of Lieper hatch,YLThompson
and brown red..

Also Harold Brown and Curtiz Blackwell
were partner under the entry name B&B.
Both breeder bloodline chicken came from Big Red Richardson

When Mclain retired , because he was lossing
his eye site.. Harry Parr take all his chicken.
Grit &Steel issued Sept. 2008.

Re: Leiper Hatch

Best Leipers are from Butch Taylor. They are the real Deal, they ant pretty but they are some of the Purest Leipers about. How can these thin legged high station, high breaking fowl be Leipers??????? they have had so much infusion in them they ant even close to what the original Leipers should be like. But if you like them good for you.

Just my opinion.

Cheers

When I talked to Crow Graves to order a Leiper trio from him he told me that some of them come out blue-legged because of an infusion of Kelso blood a long time ago. I like what I got and this is the Leiper version that I will be breeding together with a group of 7 investors. Hopefully, we will be lucky with their offsprings.

Banate
I hope they do everything you wish them to do. Rat has some good fowl. But leipers IMHO are a medium station station, bird thick legged black eyed come both straight and pea combed have have power, and a brain. They break only knee hight, side step and are single strokers and when crossed at 1/4 to a speed fowl are awsome knife birds.
I can not spar my leipers as they kill as they hit so hard, I have had fowl get broken knecks and blood in thier airsacs. I now have a dummy cock they get to hit. I had a Claret stag get to close to a leiper cock a few years ago. he hit and missed the stag but cracked a 3 inch thick teepee and walked away like nothing happened.
my Leipers are the 1's Ben Taylor Snr got through his friendship with Harold Shutles and Hennie back in the 1950's.

Cheers
